LONDI (Knowledge)

The album title reflects West Africa's tradition of passing knowledge through music and storytelling. Griots, or Jali, are the custodians of this heritage, preserving the Manding peoples' history and identity through their art. Londi, featuring Gambian kora Sura Susso and Mali's Habib Koité, bridges generations and cultures, celebrating and reimagining this tradition. Originating from a friendship formed during Koité's UK tour in 2016, the album combines their rich heritages, with contributions from both artists recorded in The Gambia and Mali, and aims to resonate with younger audiences and international listeners.
